Detox in Dallas & San Antonio Safe First Step. Real Treatment After.
Detox is how your body clears alcohol, benzos, opioids, or other substances under medical supervision when stopping alone isn’t safe. At RD Outpatient Rehab, we assess whether you need detox, help coordinate it, then move you into outpatient PHP or IOP in Richardson (Dallas) or San Antonio so recovery continues after withdrawal ends.

Detox clears the body. Treatment changes the pattern.
Medical detox is the supervised process of withdrawing from substances while clinicians manage symptoms and monitor safety. It matters most when quitting cold can trigger seizures, severe dehydration, cardiac stress, or unbearable craving that sends people right back to using.
Detox alone is not rehab. Once you’re medically stable, the work shifts to PHP, IOP, and—when mood or trauma is part of it—dual diagnosis care. That’s the path we build from the first phone call.
Substances where detox is often required
Not every substance needs a medical detox bed—but these usually need a clinical plan before outpatient treatment begins.
- 01
Alcohol detox
Daily drinking or heavy use can produce shakes, sweats, anxiety, hallucinations, or seizures when you stop. Alcohol detox should be medically supervised.
- 02
Benzodiazepine detox
Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, and similar meds can cause dangerous withdrawal if stopped abruptly. Tapering and monitoring matter.
- 03
Opioid detox
Pain pills and heroin create severe withdrawal and high relapse risk. Medical support plus a clear outpatient plan afterward is the goal.
- 04
Stimulants & other drugs
Cocaine and meth may not need classic medical detox, but the crash, sleep loss, and depression often need structured outpatient care immediately.
Assessment, coordination, then outpatient care
We are an outpatient mental health and addiction clinic—not a freestanding inpatient detox hospital. What we do offer is the part most people miss: a clear path from “I need to get off this safely” to “I have treatment lined up the moment I’m stable.”
Call 469-747-1201. We assess what you’re using, whether medical detox is indicated, help coordinate that first step when needed, verify insurance, and schedule PHP or IOP at our Dallas-area or San Antonio clinic.
From detox to a recovery that holds
Four steps. One admissions team for both Texas locations.
- 01
Confidential detox assessment
We learn substance, amount, last use, prior withdrawals, and mental health history—so the first step is safe, not guessed.
- 02
Medical detox when needed
If withdrawal requires supervision, we help coordinate medical detox. If you’re already stable, we may move straight into outpatient care.
- 03
Transition into PHP or IOP
Once cleared, you start structured outpatient treatment—therapy, group work, psychiatry, and relapse prevention.
- 04
Treat mental health too
Depression, anxiety, and trauma often drive use. Dual diagnosis care keeps both in the same plan after detox.

Yes—same process for South Texas. We assess, help coordinate medical detox when required, and continue care at our San Antonio outpatient clinic at 11318 Sir Winston St.
RD is an outpatient clinic. We do not operate an inpatient medical detox unit on site. We assess need, help coordinate safe medical detox when indicated, and provide the outpatient treatment that follows.
Alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids most often require medically supervised detox because withdrawal can be severe or dangerous. Your assessment decides what's safe for you.
Often a matter of days, depending on substance and severity. What matters more is stepping into PHP or IOP immediately after so detox isn't a revolving door.
You move into outpatient care—PHP for intensive daily structure or IOP for flexible morning/evening treatment—with dual diagnosis support if mental health is involved.
Most major plans cover medically necessary detox and outpatient addiction treatment. We verify benefits for free before you start.
