Mental Health Outpatient

Mental health outpatient at Real Deal is unique. We do not focus on the problems of mental health alone, because that does not assist our client’s long-term. Instead, we learn how to completely recreate life.

What Is Mental Health Outpatient?

Mental health outpatient care involves mental health services that do not necessarily require you to remain in a facility in the long term. With that in mind, even if the patients are not kept there under observation, they are still taught how to cope with their stressors – managing their mental health.

Services for outpatient mental health can take several forms, such as mental consultation, group therapy, mental psychiatry, and other more flexible types of treatments. With outpatient therapy, you do not necessarily need to adhere to a strict schedule; you can arrange them in a way that fits your schedule.

Mental health outpatient therapy does not separate you from all the triggering aspects of your day-to-day life, so at the end of the day, you will still need to abstain from everything that gives you the trigger.

Benefits of Mental Health Group Therapy

One common method for outpatient mental health therapy is group meetings. Many people are wary of group meetings, as they are uncomfortable with taking their therapy meetings together with other people. However, studies are showing that group therapy is the recommended route to tackling a mental problem.

With that in mind, group therapy is a good choice for those who have limited resources (such as time or money), as it brings you closer to those who already had the same experience as you. Group therapy often focuses on specific issues of mental health, such as depression or anxiety. Used properly, outpatient group therapy for mental health can have several benefits.

  1. It can offer you more support, as it puts you in contact with those who have shared similar experiences – therefore showing you that you are not alone.
  2. You can get access to other perspectives. Some people may see things differently than you, and it can be an eye-opener.
  3. When you see how other people with similar problems went through their issues, it will make you feel more confident in overcoming them yourself.
  4. It helps you improve your social skills, as group therapy takes away that feeling of isolation.
  5. It’s less expensive than individual counseling, as the focus is on a group rather than just one person.
  6. You can learn more about yourself simply by seeing yourself through the eyes of the group.

Some would say that since group therapy is the less expensive option, it is not that powerful – but the truth is quite the opposite. Group therapy is actually very intense, as it shows you aren’t the only one struggling.

Mental Health Outpatient FAQ's

Below are some quick answers to frequently asked questions about mental health treatment.

Of course! We work with many different insurance providers. If you have no health insurance, that is not a problem. We are always willing to work with clients however we can!

Outpatient mental health therapy may take various forms and work in different ways. For example, if the patient is at a great distance, the doctor may decide to have the meeting in an online manner or by phone. However, in most cases, they will be called to attend treatment at specific times, and then be allowed to return home when it is over. Depending on your preferences, you may choose day meetings, evening meetings – whichever makes it easier for you to make the meetings.

To put it simply, outpatient rehabilitation therapy works to provide the treatment necessary, without taking you out of your daily environment. You can go to therapy, then you can go straight home once the session is over. It helps to address an issue while offering you flexibility.

Individual therapy, like the name suggests, is the kind of therapy where the doctor looks after your wellbeing personally, in individual sessions. Each therapy session only has you as a patient – and sometimes, the patients would check themselves in a facility (also referred to as inpatient therapy). This type of therapy is good for patients who want to be isolated from their triggers, but it does not give them too much freedom of movement. All attention is placed on them, and they are constantly supervised.

On the other hand, outpatient group therapy is not as strict as individual therapy. Instead of the professional focusing just on you, the focus is on a group with similar problems – a group that you interact with. These groups have proven to be effective with anxiety patients in particular, as the attention is not placed only on them. Plus, since it works in an outpatient style, the patient may return home once the therapy session is over.
