Our addiction outpatient rehab is life-changing. Located on the cusp of NE Dallas and SE Richardson, our Outpatient center is an amazing place to recover. Real Deal Therapy & Wellness is a place for total recovery from the perils of addiction & alcoholism.
The Benefits of Outpatient Addiction Rehab
According to the research from the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI), the importance of intensive outpatient procedures (IOP) cannot be understated. IOP is a form of rehabilitation, which comes in various stages depending on the severity of the issue.
So, What is the difference between outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment? The simple answer is time, as IOP is available at more hours of the day and can accommodate a flexible schedule. Regular outpatient treatment is a doctor sending you instructions to follow to nurse lower-impact issues.
An Outpatient Rehab That Fits Your Schedule
Finding an addiction treatment center that works during your busy life is usually difficult. However, at RDTW, we prioritize the client’s needs (Which includes real-life things like employment). Do not get stranded at some 30-day ranch when you can recover at Real Deal.
Types of Outpatient Treatment
We offer many different kinds of outpatient care for our patients. Based on what is the most beneficial for their recovery, we will place them accordingly. Partial hospitalization (PHP), Intensive outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient all offer different levels of care and structure.
PHP
The highest “level” of treatment involves going in every day from five to seven days a week. This can be called partial hospitalization, as you can even spend almost six hours a day in the hospital.
In many cases, people go to this level after finishing inpatient drug treatment. This stage is meant to put pressure on their progress, ensuring that they do not return to drugs again.
IOP
As the second level of treatment, IOP takes some of the pressure off of spending several hours per day at the hospital. Instead, IOP is available as needed. There is great flexibility with this option.
Just because someone is part of an IOP doesn’t mean that they are not seeking additional support elsewhere. They may be going to drug rehabilitation support groups.
OP
At this point, the patient has exhibited strong capabilities in handling their own problems. They can rejoin society with a regular job and possibly go to support groups on the ordinary to address their demons.
These treatments are geared towards doctor’s inclusion, but there are other forms of support that medical professionals often suggest. This brings us to our next comparison, inpatient treatment.
Outpatient Rehab FAQ's
Below are some quick answers to frequently asked questions about outpatient addiction rehab.
Is Outpatient Rehab more effective than inpatient?
Not necessarily. The stats are extremely skewed when it comes to success rates for outpatient vs inpatient. However, both have uniquely independent benefits which we will cover on the next FAQ.
The Benefits of Inpatient Rehab (Vs. Outpatient)
Inpatient rehab allows the individual to focus entirely on getting better. They have no distractions when it comes to other concerns that a person may experience. As a result, inpatient treatment has a pretty high success rate. Below, we will list out some features.
- Up to a six-month program
- No distractions
- Expensive
- 24-hour support
- The patient does not leave
These treatments are left to the most severe cases. As a result, those who manage to get through this program will need significant support on the outside. Inpatient procedures tend to be structure-based, allowing for the potential of struggle when people are reintroduced into society. The importance of transitioning to day treatment or IOP is expressed.
Comparing Outpatient Vs. Inpatient
IOP is entirely based upon the willingness of the client. If they do not want to get better, they won’t. Inpatient procedures have the same issue, but the pressure of consistently being surrounded by it causes for a different environment. The features will be listed below.
- Less expensive than inpatient treatment
- Up to a year program
- Up to 12 hours per week
- No removal from life’s distractions
- A lower success rate when compared to inpatient procedures.
All inpatient programs are created under the understanding that they will eventually be going home. One cannot live in a treatment facility for an extended period. While it is clear that inpatient processes have higher success, many inpatient processes can transition here depending on certain factors.
Complimenting Your Outpatient Treatment
If you are seeing a doctor that is prescribing you a treatment method, they will sometimes suggest additional resources to you. These provide you with features similar to group therapy. We will go into those features below.
Self-Help Groups
As stated by our group therapy section, self-help groups allow those who suffer from similar ailments to come together and share stories. These are not led by a licensed therapist but are an excellent resource for sharing your story. People would encourage each other and model from those who have been successful.
Continuing Care Groups
These are self-help groups that are led by a licensed therapist. They also tend to be focused on specific populations, such as those who are addicted to particular drugs. These groups happen after the completion of any inpatient or outpatient procedures.
Sober Living Houses
Sober living houses, or recovery residencies, fall into a couple of different categories. Sometimes, they are assigned living quarters for people who are experiencing this life. These are known as halfway houses or transition houses.
Another option could be managed care houses, which are those with a live-in or nearby manager, to ensure that their needs are being met. The manager could be someone who has experienced this life before. They may, or may not, be a licensed therapist. These are more likely to support inpatient treatment than IOP.
Ending Addiction At RDTW
Drug and alcohol addiction are terrible things that can completely destroy a person’s life. The only surefire way to handle any of this is through consistent processes proven through years of research.
Much of this research brings us back to inpatient procedures, which emphasize staying in a facility for drug treatment. While there is a place for inpatient, IOP is a far more common option given expenses and the demand to maintain a regular life.
There are many options and supplemental features out there; IOP is primarily decided by the severity of the case. Those who participate in IOP have been through detox, but haven’t been affected to the highest degree. Regardless, it is still an essential step in a journey to sober living.
