About Breckinridge Park

Breckinridge Park is a nature park in Richardson, Texas. It has a nature center and picnic pavilions. The Breckinridge Nature Center was named after Rev. Dr. George R. Breckinridge, who was a friend of the city of Richardson and a strong supporter of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society where he served as chairman from 1947-1953. His wife, Ophelia Hill Breckinridge, donated their farm to become the heart of the park’s natural area in honor of his work with that organization for nearly 20 years. The focus on conservation here is on native plants and trees as well as birds and other wildlife such as foxes and deer.
